DIY Organic Beauty Recipes

Throughout history remarkable beauty recipes and remedies were discovered purely out of necessity. Over a period of time, many home remedies have proven to be effective and natural, therefore healthy! Choosing certified organic ingredients ensure that your home remedies are free from toxic chemicals and pesticides.
Home beauty recipes and remedies have been around for centuries. However keep in mind any allergies or sensitivity you may have to some ingredients; such as glycerin, lemons, strawberries, eggs, etc. Check with your doctor or dermatologist if you are not sure you can use certain ingredients.

 
HONEY
Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it has the ability to attract and retain moisture making it a natural hydrating option for skin. Hydration is an important factor in maintaining your skins softness, suppleness and elasticity.
Honey contains significant natural antioxidants . Antioxidants protect the skin from the suns damaging UV rays and aid skin rejuvenation.
Honey also  has antimicrobial agents which inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, making it useful for the treatment of minor acne flare-ups.

Firming Facial Mask
Whisk 1tbsp certified organic honey, 1 egg white and enough flour to form a paste.
Application:- smooth over face and throat leave for 10 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Blemish Remedy
Using a cotton bud swab honey on blemish- after cleansing skin leave for approx 10 minutes, rinse and pat dry.

Skin Softening Bath
Add 1/4 cup of honey to your bath water

Moisture Mask
Mix 2tbsp honey with 2tbsp milk
Application: Smooth over face and throat, leave 10 minutes, rinse with warm water

 

LEMONS
Lemons have long been highly regarded as a cosmetic, thanks to its delicate scent and high vitamin C and acid content, and is still widely used to soften and tone the skin and to lighten the complexion. The humble lemon has many cosmetic properties including: softener, emollient, moisturiser, cleanser, toner as well as it magnificent scent. Lemons are photosensitive do not expose yourself to the sun for a few hours after the treatments.

Body Scrub
Mix together
1/4 cup brown sugar -exfoliates without drying
1 cup grape seed oil - moisturises
1/4 cup grated lemon peel (to invigorate your senses)
Application-gently rub all over in small circular motions, rinse with water then pat dry.

Hair Rinse
Rinse your hair with a little lemon juice after shampooing to give it more shine to your hair.

Lightening of Skin
Take one tablespoon of a light vegetable oil such as almond or a light olive oil
15 drops of lemon juice
one teaspoon of honey.

Application Apply over clean skin. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse with warm water.
